Clean Out Installation

A sewer clean out is a capped pipe which provides access to a sewer line allowing people to clean out blockages in the sewer system.

In many regions, sewer clean outs can be found along the lateral sewer line, the sewer line which connects a home’s plumbing to the municipal plumbing. Lateral clogs and the sewer clean out are the responsibility of the property owner. Larger sewer clean outs are also located at intervals along the municipal sewer line, so that water and sewer employees can clear blockages in that part of the sewer system.

Install building clean out

A Building clean out is normally installed in front or at the side of your house. It is mainly used for cleaning or examining the interior of the sewer drain pipes. The customer’s sewer service drain line from the home or building should include an access to the line for those times when problems occur. This is accomplished by installing a Clean-out fitting. This pipe fitting is part of the drain system located usually just outside the foundation wall of the building. A clean-out usually consists of a 4-inch diameter PVC fitting installed on the drain line that is brought vertically to the surface of the ground and includes a threaded cap that may be removed for drain service. In some cities and districts they require the installation of a Backwater Overflow Device ( Kelley Valve) for temporary relief of the drain system due to overflow conditions or a clogged line

City (Property) clean out

A City (Property) clean out is normally located near the edge of the sidewalk (within 5 feet), and it is designed for clearing a sewer drain all the way up to the street main sewer line. About half of the city and Sewer districts will clear and maintain sewer lines when they back up. There are several different rules and regulations between cities and districts, so call us and we’ll give you the correct guidelines that apply to your home.
